After years of easel painting, in the late eighties it occurred to me that the oriental system of scrolls made sense. The same space for a painting could be changed according to the season or whim with both ease of hanging and of storing. I once had one couple purchase five for precisely that reason—they had one large white wall and could vary the paintings periodically. The Orientals have done this for centuries.
I’m not an innovator but, rather, an observer. How to
translate the visual impact of the seen into the visual language with the most economy of
means in the primary goal. It’s always the next one that will succeed!
